Our purpose
At Libro, our purpose—to strengthen financial well-being for a better tomorrow—is the foundation of everything we do. This is underpinned by purposeful work, which includes strong environmental, social, and governance practices embedded in how we operate.
As an early signatory and supporter of the Canadian Purpose Economy Project, we are working to redefine success beyond profit, build a better future, and encourage other businesses to do the same.
In 2022, Libro was recognized with a gold rating in a new Corporate Knights report that assesses the social purpose practices of Canadian companies. It shows our work to use our entire operation, resources, and influence to be a positive force in society.

- We have a strong and unique governance structure in place. Our practices in ethics and transparency are robust in all aspects of governance and business operations. Click here to see our annual report.
- While we’ve always had a social purpose as a financial cooperative, our commitments to creating positive social and environmental impact are now formally integrated into our by-laws. This helps to preserve these commitments overtime.

We champion employee well-being, equal treatment, and opportunities for all.
- We are certified Living Wage Employer and an active supporter of the Ontario Living Wage Network. We ensure that all our employees receive at least the living wage rate of $23.05, as determined for the Grey Bruce Perth Huron Simcoe region.
- We provide a comprehensive wellness program and tools that provides flexibility to staff to engage in the way that works for them to support their personal wellness.

We invest profits back into the people, businesses and communities we serve.
- Annually, we provide more than $1.3 million dollars in direct funding to community organizations and students through our community investment programs.
- We are proudly 100% Canadian and locally owned by over 119,000 people and over 12,000 businesses who trust us as their financial partner.
